Ocala, FL---The Chipola women's basketball team makes it a sweep of the state juco titles, with a Saturday night win over Northwest Florida in the championship game in Ocala, the final 68-50.
This the 4th time those two conference rivals played each other, and each time, the Lady Indians walked away with the win. Saturday's no doubt, the sweetest.
Northwest Florida was able to scratch out a lead by the end of the first half, leading 33-29 going into the break.
The Lady Indians though able to force a tie at 39 midway through the half, and then outscored Northwest 29-11 down the stretch. A big part of the run that allowed Chipola to take charge, a couple of three point buckets by Tiffany Lewis, who led Chipola on the night with 19 points.
Evelyn Ahkator, the Panhandle Player of the Year, played big again scoring 8 points, more importantly hauling in 18 rebounds.
Coach Franklin and his Lady Indians now 31-1, set their sights on another trip to Nationals, set for Salina, KS later this month.
