Chipola Beats Palm Beach, Moves Into State Semi's

Lakeland, FL---The Chipola Indians are now two wins away from yet another state title under head coach Jeff Johnson.

The Indians beat Palm Beach Monday in what was for Chipola, an elimination game, 9-1 in 7 innings.

Palm Beach pitchers helped the Chipola cause with several first and second inning walks, helping the Indians score 8 times with just 3 hits.
Luis Tunon with one of those hits, a two rbi double to right in the top of the second.

All that early offense in support of a stellar effort on the mound by Chipola starter Preston Johnson who went the distance in the 7 inning game with 9 strikeouts, giving up just the one run on 4 hits.

Now 3-1 in the double elimination tournament, Chipola moves on to a semifinal game Tuesday morning at 10 against the team out of Bradenton. The winner of that faces Palm Beach in the Championship game Tuesday at one.
