Marianna, FL---This is the time of year when a lot of youngster can show big time improvement in their game, thanks to a variety of specialized camps.
Camps like the one at Chipola this week. Coach Jeff Johnson with a two day pitching camp, and then two days of hitting camp.
The latter finishing up Thursday. About 30 kids taking part up there in the hitting camp, which is the second of three stages of a more than week long process.
"Well we try to individualize our camps," says Johnson. "We do a pitching camp, then we do a hitting camp, two days each for those. And then next week we'll do a little skills camp from 9 to 12. Just try to break it down for them to get some individual attention. You know, it's great to get these kids out here and see the youngsters. You know, I've been dealing with 18, 19, and 20 year olds all year. It's a different deal to deal with these 8 to 12 year olds for the most part. But we've had good weather, camps been good and we're looking forward to the last two days Monday and Tuesday."
Those two days what coach calls a skills camp, where they put everything together, pitching, hitting, fielding and running.
