Chipola Leaves for National Tourney with Clear Objective

Marianna, FL---The Chipola College basketball programs, both coming off of Panhandle and state championships, are looking to add a third title each to their trophy cases. A national title.

The men's team has been hard at work training for the NJCAA national championship later this week, and as head coach Patrick Blake says, the guys realize the finality of this position their in and want nothing more than to go out on top.

"I was really happy with our approach from the last couple weeks from the meetings that we've had," said Blake. "I still see that look in our player's eyes. They know that coming down, this will be the last time a lot of these guys will get to play on the same team, the last time that i get to coach them, and why not try to go out on the best note possible"

Both the Chipola men and women leaving Saturday for their respective National Championship, departing at noon central, and driving to Atlanta to then fly to Kansas.

Both will practice until playing Wednesday. The Lady Indians are the two-seed in their tournament, kicking off play in the second round against the winner of the matchup between the 15-18 seed at 1:00 PM central in Salina.

The men are the three-seed in their bracket, set to play the winner of the contest between the 14-19 seed at 6:00 PM in Hutchinson.
