Salina/Hutchinson, KS---Both Chipola basketball teams are off to good starts at their respective National Tournaments. The Lady Indians blowing out ASA of New York Wednesday by a final of 81-46. That moves Chipola, now 32-1 into the quarterfinals Thursday and a 5 o'clock game against 32-2 Butler.
The Lady Indians built a 42-20 lead by halftime and were able to cruise from there. Tiffany Lewis led the Lady Indians with 19 points,
Wright and Akhator each getting 16.
The Chipola men's team beating State Fair out of Missouri by a final of 91-83. That takes the Indians record to 26-5 and into a quarterfinal game Thursday against 25-5 Jones College out of Mississippi. That game set for 8 central time.
The Indians led by Sam Cassell, Jr. who had 23, Carlos Morris adding 18. Chipola hit 11 three-pointers in the game.
