MARIANNA, Fla- The Chipola Indians are headed west, and it's a familiar trip because this program has made it before.

The Indians baseball team packed up the bus and made the way to the airport for a trip out to Grand Junction Colorado early Thursday morning. The team had to raise about $20,000 thousand dollars for the trip to their third JUCO World Series in the last 5 years. The program won the national title in 2007 under Coach Jeff Johnson.

Coming off a conference and state championship, in what many consider the toughest conference in Florida and one of the toughest states in JUCO, the team is ready for the challenge that awaits them.

"We've played really well teamsmanship wise. The last four or five weeks we have. Our leadership, our chemistry, and our character seem to be better. It seems like it hurts them to lose a little bit now, so hopefully that will continue over this tournament."

The Indians don't play until Sunday after getting a first round bye. They take on Grayson Community College at 7:30 p.m. Mountain time. 8:30 p.m. Central.
