Chipola and Northwest Florida State gear up for a men's basketball game that is a national top ten showdown, and is also a fight for first in the conference.

Marianna, FL--We start looking ahead to some rather big basketball matchups on the juco level set for our area Saturday evening.
It's safe to say the matchup of men's teams in Niceville will pit two of the best juco squads in the state, even the nation! Chipola travels west to face Northwest Florida State for the first time this season.
Combined their overall records are 32-3, and each has won it's first two conference games. So this one a fight for first place early on in the league race.
Jake Headrick and his Indians with wins so far over Gulf Coast and Pensacola. The coach says both wins coming despite the fact he felt his guys failed to play at a high level those entire games.

Jake Headrick
Chipola Head Coach
"We tried to emphasize to our guys just how important, as we get into league play, you know, going into it, you know playing for 40 minutes it's gonna be. So it's been hard not to look ahead to this game with O.W. with them ranked third in the country and us ranked 6th but we've had a lot of things that we've tried to for ourselves before we could look forward to that. But it's one day away and I know our guys are very excited about tomorrow night's matchup."

Headrick says Chipola will have to pay particular attention to that guy, #22 Carl Hall, the sophomore forward out of Cochran Georgia who's averaging 18 points and 10 boards a game. That men's game tips off at 7:30, the women's game at 5:30.
