LYNN HAVEN, Fla- The Bay County based Club Fusion volleyball team is ready to play in the biggest tournament in the team's history. The team is playing in the Junior National Championships in Atlanta, one of the only Bay County teams to do so in club volleyball.

The Club Fusion volleyball team is in unfamiliar territory. They will play in their first ever Junior National Championship tournament against the top teams in the country

"This is a higher than a state championship," Fusion Club Coach Stephen Canfield said. "This is national, we're in a division with 48 teams from all over the country."

Even though this team hasn't been this far before it doesn't mean they haven't been through some tough tournaments.

"We had to beat basically and all star team of all graduated seniors in NOVA. Girl's from Fort Walton Beach and Niceville all together playing on one team you know. We took them down. They had beat us 2-0 in pool play, and we came back and beat them 2-1 in the finals. It was a big win for us," Canfield added.

Club Fusion is made up primarily of Mosley High Varsity players, but this year they added Arnold alum Katie Steelman to the mix. Adding the Southern Miss signee to the likes of Morgan McCabe, who's signed with Brenau University, and Deanna Canfield, who's a South Alabama commit, has helped put the team in this position.

"Having her on the team has been so enjoyable," Deanna Canfield said. "She's a good girl, and a great athlete. We're just glad to have her with us."

This experience is exciting and also a little nerve racking, but these young ladies are looking forward to representing this area at Nationals.

"We've never wanted really anything more," Morgan McCabe said. "We've really met all of our goals being here."

Steelman said, "Just really excited to be going and competing at such a high level, and get to be doing it together. And represent the county."

Club Fusion will begin play in the National Tournament Thursday afternoon with their first three matches in pool play. For a list of their results click on the link below.
