Bay High School hires state champion football coach as it's new athletic director

Panama City, FL--The Bay athletic program is getting new direction in the person of coach Mike Cullison. Bay principal Billy May hiring Cullison as Bay's new athletic director. Coach Cullison a veteran head football coach at four different schools in the central Florida area, including Jones and Seminole, leading that latter program to the 6A state championship in 2008. The 52 year old Cullison is working to restart his career after he was forced to retire after admitting to jokingly using the "n" word in the presence of a black assistant coach, who took the matter to the Seminole County School Board.
Mr. May fully aware of that situation because Cullison had applied for the head coaching job last month, and was fully vetted by a community committee, which included some prominent african american members. And they were satisfied to the point some even wanted him hired as head coach, and he wound up runnerup for the job. May says he always wants to surround the kids at Bay with quality people and the principal is confident that coach Cullison is a qualitly person.
