Cokely Set to Guide Marianna into the Season

Marianna, FL--The Marianna Bulldogs are just a few days away from their first game under their new head ball coach.

The Bulldogs working through the final days of fall camp, their first camp under the direction of head coach Tim Cokely, who won 6 state titles at North Florida Christian in some 12 seasons there.

Obviously he can coach 'em up as they say. As for his ideas on how to build winning football teams, well it comes down, Cokely says, to a couple of basic elements.

"I think all of my teams, the one character trait that we've had that have been winning teams, is that we take care of the football." says Cokely. "That's what I believe strongly in, that we take care of the football. I think we're starting to get that. Taking care of the football means playing well on special teams, not being stupid, making good plays. Aggressive tough defense, and taking care of the football will get you far in any league and and I don't think our league's any different."

The 'dogs, coming off a 5-5 season. will again play as part of the four team 4-A district one alongside Walton, East Gadsden and Taylor.

Marianna will host West Florida Friday in their preseason classic, the open the regular season next Friday at Cottondale.
