Panama City, FL---The Gulf Coast baseball team is now 5-1, and still at the top of the Panhandle Conference standings following a thrilling 8-7 win in 12 innings over Northwest Florida Friday afternoon.
The Commodores scored the first four runs of the game, two in the first and two more in the second. Northwest rallied back for 2 in the top of the third, and from there the two teams exchanged punches, eventually finishing 9 innings tied at 7.
That's how the game stayed until the bottom of the 12th when Matt Miller ended it with a walk-off homer. Gulf Coast moving to 26-10 overall, more importantly 5-1 in Panhandle play. That heading into a few days off from league competition.

Gulf Coast starter Joey McCarthy working with a two run lead here in the top of the second, helps the cause by starting the 1-6-2 inning ending double play.
Bottom half of that inning, first and second, one out for Tevin Johnson who gets the seeing eye single up the middle, Dakota Spikes in from second, but Ty Downing is cut down trying to go third, still 3-0 Commodores.
Danny Aviles then comes through with the two out rbi, single to shallow left, Johnson trots home, 4-0.
Top third, Raiders load the bases for Ben Craft and he slices one down the left field line. Nick Masonia in from third, Steven Jernigan slides in ahead of the throw, it's 4-2 at that point. Both teams continue scoring and if fact this one goes into the 12th, when Matt Miller's walk off homer wins it,
8-7 Commdores. They go to 5-1 in conference play.
