Panama City, FL--- The Gulf Coast baseball team swinging some hot bats against a northern team that's still working itself into shape Monday, a 15-2 win over Kalamazoo out of Michigan.
The Commodores getting an opposite field two run home run from sophomore Tyler Dial in the bottom of the first. Tevin Johnson, who made a nifty catch in the top of the first, also delivered two runs in the bottom half with a sharp single to right.
Johnson then added another run on a sacrifice fly in the third and the Commodores would add ten more to win in run-rule fashion, taking their record to 16-8. They will host another northern team Kankakee Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The attached video shows the following:
A rather good start for the Commodores, righty Dalton Kelly on the hill, getting the defense in the first, nice diving catch in right by Trevin Johnson.
Then in the bottom half, some big time swings from the Commodores, first lefty Tyler Dial, the sophomore out of Phenix City, goes the opposite way with a man aboard, it's 2-0.
Next hitter is Trevin Hall, the sophomore out of Sneads, with an absolute bomb, no doubt about the distance, but the wind blowing in from right pushes it foul. Still Hall would single, Dakato Spikes would double, and both would score on Johnson's sharp single to right, Spikes sliding in under the tag.
