Commodores Defeat Rival Indians at Home

Panama City, FL --- Gulf Coast Commodores and Chipola Indians contests, regardless of records, conference standings, or previous outcomes, always hold significant meaning in this ever intense rivalry.

On Saturday night though, GC seeked revenge for a hard fought road loss back on January 7th where the Indians took the part one in Marianna by a four point margin.

At a packed Billy Harrison Field House, the Commodores were ready to set the pace and tempo early to control the game in their own building.

In the attached highlights, Anton Waters gets his jumper to drop as GC would take an early lead.

But even with this Chiopola team shorthanded with key players suspended, Sam Cassell Jr held it down for the Indians. He knocks down the three to make it a one possession game.

Then a little later, it's Cassell again, he's signed to play at UConn next for a reason, he's really good. GC lead down to three.

But Devon Baulkman is able to answer right back with a three of his own.

Gulf Coast evens up the season series with their rival 1-1 as they win 75-70.

The Commodores now sit in a tie with Northwest Florida for second place in the Panhandle Conference at a 3-2 record, a half game back of Chipola, who is now 4-2.

All three of the teams Panhandle wins have now come on campus as GC is a perfect 3-0 at home in conference play.
