Panama City, FL---The Gulf Coast men's basketball team seemed to let one slip away Friday. The Commodores, hosting their Thanksgiving Classic this weekend, playing a 4 o'clock game against Walters out of Tennessee.
They took control in the first half, eventually building a 41-28 lead by the break. But it was not a good final 20 minutes as the Commodores manage to score just 20 points and end up on the short end of a 65-61 score. That drops Gulf Coast to 6-3 on the season heading into another 4 o'clock game Saturday.
The attached video shows the following:
-Good start for the home team in white, Jon Wade with the assist here to Elliott Cole and knocks down the three pointer.
-A bit later it's Basil Deveaux working the offensive glass, goes for the putback but his shot is blocked, Anton Waters there and he goes back up and scores, 7 point GC lead.
-A few minutes later, Wade again with the assist here, gives to Dwane Miner who drives, scores, and one.
-And then it's the Rutherford alum shooting himself and knocking down three more. Gulf Coast seemingly in command up 41-28 at the half, but they fall apart in the final 20 minutes, scoring just 20, and they lose 65-61 and fall to 6-3.
