Commodores Hoping to Continue Winning Streak Wednesday

Panama City, FL---It's the day in between the second and third game of that three game set between Northwest Florida and Gulf Coast. Both teams spent Tuesday preparing for game three of their series this week.

The Commodores have won the first two, taking them to 6-2 in league play which has them tied with Chipola for first place in the conference.

"You have no opportunity to rest on your laurels because if you do it's just gonna bite you tomorrow." Gulf Coast Head Coach Mike Kandler told me Tuesday afternoon during practice. "We know we've got Northwest Florida, we've beaten them twice in a row. This will be the toughest game of the year for us. Doug's gonna have his team ready to play. They've got a very good ball club, and we're just gonna go one game at a time and hopefully we can have another good performance tomorrow."

The win Monday the 5th straight victory for the Commodores after losing two of three to Chipola to start conference play. So Gulf Coast feeling confident, but not cocky!

"Yeah we're really pleased to have won the five games in a row," says Kandler "but most importantly we've played really well in all five. Hopefully that will continue. Things can turn around real quickly in the league. So you've just have to keep playing good. Be happy with what you've done but you better be looking forward, not backwards because the tests get more difficult as it goes."

That Gulf Coast-Northwest game Wednesday in Niceville set for 5. The Indians meanwhile head back to Pensacola to wrap up their three game set, the Indians looking for a sweep in that series.
