Panama City, FL---With Roonie Scovel in the fold, at least on an interim basis, with the Gulf Coast women's basketball program, Gulf Coast A.D. Greg Wolfe is now focusing his time on finding a new softball coach for the college.
The school is searching for a replacement for Susan Painter, fired in mid-May by Gulf Coast for allegedly stealing from her own players.
Admittedly that search taking a couple of extra weeks go get going. Wolfe was on the road for three weeks, first at the state softball tourney, then the baseball tourney, and then A.D.'s meeting. So he says they're just now getting around to posting that job opening.
Wolfe tells me after advertising the job the required ten days, they'll start interviewing candidates around the 16th, with the hopes of being able to name a new coach no later than June 23rd.
Wolfe says despite not having the job advertised, he's already received resumes from several candidates he calls "high caliber, exceptional coaches" including some from the division one level.
