Marianna, FL---The Gulf Coast Commodores draw first blood in all important Panhandle Conference play, getting a 10-3 win Friday at Chipola.
The Commodores took advantage of some wildness by Chipola starter Michael Mader producing a couple of early runs, and then 5 more in the top of the 5th. A bases loaded walk driving in one of those runs, three more coming on a double down the right field line by Woody Edwards.
Gulf Coast goes meanwhile getting a strong outing from starter West Covington who pitched 7 innings, giving up just 2 earned runs on 4 hits while striking out 5.
Trevor Davis had 3 hits and Edwards 3 rbi for the Commodores, who go to 22-6, and start league play 1-0. Chipola now 21-6, 0-1 in conference. These same two meet Saturday at 1:00 at Frazier Field on the Gulf Coast campus, then wrap up their opening series Monday at 5 back in Marianna.

-Pick it up with the Commodores up 2-0 in the top of the 5th, Indians starter Michael Mader trying to pitch his way out of a bases loaded jam, but instead he walks Tevin Johnson to force in a run, making it 3-0 Gulf Coast.
-Bases still loaded for Woody Edwards, who lines this double down the right field line, and that clears the bases, by the time they're done with that frame it's 7-0.
-In the 6th, Thompson Geron on in relief for the Indians, Nick Flair welcomes him to the party with the shot to dead center, it's an rbi double scoring Brian Lamboy 8-0 game.
-Chipola gets 2 in the 6th on a wild pitch and a fielder's choice but the Commdores go on to win big 10-3, they draw first blood in conference play.
