Commodores Sweep Opening Day Action in Spring Classic

Panama City, FL---The Gulf Coast baseball team kicked off it's Spring Classic Tuesday, opening a stretch of eight games in seven days.

From where we pick it up in the highlights attached above, GC was up 3-0 after one. But top 2nd, Matt Foster surrenders a pair of runs to the Owens bats. But that was about as close as they'd get to the home team.

Bottom two, the Commodores strike again thanks to Owens miscues. Woody Edwards flies out to right with a runner on third so the throw comes home, but is mishandled. Chandler Durham comes in to score. One more would come via sac fly so it's 5-2 after two.

Then in the bottom of the third, more runs, less problems. Max Bartlett screams one up the middle scoring Tevin Johnson.

The GC bats couldn't be shut down. They take it 14-4 via mercy rule in the 5th. The Commodores would go on to win game 2 on the day as well 4-3 over Lake County, thanks to a walk-off hit by Nick Flair in the bottom of the seventh.

Gulf Coast is now 16-6 on the campaign.
