Commodores Win First of Three Against Pirates

Panama City, FL---Still in the early stages of conference play, Gulf Coast returned to Frazier Field Monday night after a brief break from Panhandle action to begin a three game stretch with Pensacola.

Games alternating home sites between the Commodores and Pirates, so the series starts out in Panama City, where GC's workhorse West Covington was on the hill and was on early.

In the highlights attached above, top two, he get's one of his two punchouts in the frame to end the inning. He had five in total on the evening.

Action picks back up in the 6th, Gulf Coast leading 6-1 and not content. Dalton Kelly swipes second to get in scoring position.

And that's how you manufacture a run. Brian Lamboy singles to left, Kelly, booking it home, bang-bang play, but he slides under the tag. 7-1 Commodores.

Bottom seven now, one on, Tevin Johnson, gonna smack one up the middle for a base hit, Nick Flair ends up at third, but you'll see the throw from the cutoff man bounces through and Flair walks in.

Covington did give up two long balls, but he throws his third complete game of the season, just five hits allowed.

Commodores take it 8-2, moving to 25-9 and 2-2 in conference.
