We start up in Cottondale and a three way tiebreaker Monday for the 1-B district one runnerup state playoff berth. FAMU, Graceville and the host school all finishing district play with 2-2 marks, each with one win against one of the other two. So two quarters of play, Cottondale a bye based on the best overall record, FAMU and Graceville in the first quarter, Rattlers forced to punt on their first posession but Derae Laster unable to handle that punt, ends up muffing it, FAMU recovers.
From there Rudy Fergeson takes the handoff and goes 24 yards after some nice moves into the endzone, puts the Rattlers up 8-0 after the try. Later Graceville quarterback Jacky Miles trying to make a play rolls to the left throws back across his body but it's picked off by Fergeson, he brings it all the way back for the touchdown, FAMU wins that first quarter 14-zip. So the Rattlers take on Cottondale for the State berth. The Hornets going right to the bread and butter play on their first possession, dive play to Dominique Webb, they run that same play 5 fimes on this drive and it pays off...Webb gets into the endzone, and they use the same play for a two point try, it's good, 8-0 Cottondale.
Ensuing drive, the Baby Rattlers score a touchdown, but fail on the conversion, Cottondale wins 8-6, takes the 1-B one runnerup, they'll open the playoffs next week at Lafayette.
