Davis Convicted of Battery, Faces up to 5 Years

Panama City, FL---National football signing day is set for Wednesday and with that in mind, we can file this one under "cautionary tale" in terms of great high school football talent.

Enrique Davis, a former star at Mosley who eventually wound up in the Ole Miss backfield, was found guilty Tuesday in Bay County of battery on a police officer.

That from an incident at a PCB nightclub last Spring. Davis, when approached for urinating in public, and then after confronted by the officer, slammed his elbow into the officer's face and upper body, causing a concussion and torn rotator cuff. Davis is now facing up to five years in prison when sentenced on the 18th.

Enrique was a powerful, fleet footed running back at Mosley who originally signed with Auburn back in oh-7. Grades forced him to junior college for a year, and eventually led him to Ole Miss from 2008 to 2011.

Inconsistent effort and injuries, an arrest and other problems kept him from coming anywhere close to living up to his potential.
