Panama City Beach, FL-- John Peterson was one of the most decorated players at LSU and was just 2 shots away from winning the U.S. Open last June, yet this extremely talented golfer is still fighting for his spot on the Tour.

If you ask him, Peterson will say it was the Par 5 16th that if things had gone differently, he may not be in Stage 2 of Qualifying School.

Peterson finished his first ever major 2 shots off the lead and only one shot from earning his tour card.

If he is able to make it through this round (which generally requires being in the top 20 of the 70+ golfers here) then he will be guaranteed a spot on either the Web.com Tour or the PGA Tour (depending on how he does in the third stage).

The good news for Peterson, because of his performance at the Olympic Club, he is exempt for both the 2013 Masters and U.S. Open which means regardless of how this stage shakes out, he will have an advantage to bolster his tour status in the first two Majors of the year.
