Lynn Haven, FL----The Mosley Dolphins are working towards the start of the 2013 season, and the program's first year under new head coach Jeremy Brown.
The Dolphins putting the pads on to do some hitting starting Monday and they seemed anxious to do some hitting, even if it was against a teammate.
Coach Brown played his high school ball at Rutherford and Bay. He led Jefferson to a state title in 2011, and is hoping to continue that run of success in Lynn Haven.
He says it certainly seems as if the kids bought in to his message in spring and summer!
"During the summer we probably averaged about 80 kids a day, during our summer program." Brown says. "We had about 50-55 on the varsity and 40 on the j.v., so we had good numbers, consistently about 80. You know the commitment has kind of carried over. The attendance rate the first week of fall camp has been phenomenal. We haven't had any kids out. Kids are excited with the style of football and the kind of environment we've tried to create."
Speaking of his "style of football" we asked coach to describe the kind of offense fans will see when they come out to watch the 'fins this fall.
"I think offensively we want to be up-tempo. We want to get kids in space. We also want to throw the ball around a little bit. We also want to be very physical up front, be able to run it when the defense gives us that. When they don't we'll throw it around. I think just different formations and up-tempo you know I think that's what the kids, the really enjoy that."
The Dolphins will look to junior Dylan Brown to guide that offense under center. And the rest of the 'fins will be part of a three team jamboree on the 23rd at Tommy Oliver. They open the regular season at home against Leon.
