Lynn Haven, FL---For some area prep baseball teams, their first round playoff games are fast approaching. Mosley, Rutherford and Marianna all get in their state playoff openers Wednesday and Thursday in fact.
Coach Todd Harless and his Mosley Dolphins go first, they play Wednesday night. The 'fins the runner up in 6A district two, head west to take on Pace, the champs of district one. Mosley goes in 24-3, the Patriots are 20-9. And even though Mosley has the better record, well as Todd Harless knows, that means nothing at this point.
"Yeah we're gonna go over and play a very tough Pace team. Played for the state championship last year, won it the year before. You know everybody's trying to tell me they're down but I tell them not to believe the hype. Coach Warner over there has won about 5 state championships and a couple national championships. He'll have those guys ready to play, there's no doubt.'
Mosley knocked out of the playoffs by Pace in the region semi's last year 10-2, so perhaps some payback in store in that one.
Rutherford meanwhile, a winner in the 5A-1 title game over Gulf Breeze last week, hosts it's playoff opener Thursday against Wakulla, Marianna plays at Madison Thursday as well.
