Gainesville, FL---The playing status at the University of Florida for Holmes alum Chris Walker remains in limbo.
Twitter lit up Monday night with talk of Walker possibly being cleared by the NCAA to play as early as Saturday against Tennessee.
That from a reporter in Orlando, who cited sources close to the program.
Nobody is closer to the program than Billy Donovan and today he seemed fed up with all the speculation surrounding the 5 star recruit!
"Yeah I would just say this, as it relates to Chris, just listen to myself, and our school." Coach Donovan said Tuesday during his weekly meeting with the media. "You know I'm not gonna address it anymore. Certainly we're hopeful that he's gonna get back soon, but there's no indication that that's there's any truth to that at all. You know whenever he gets cleared, and we all hope it's soon, believe me I'm not gonna throw a guy in a game and have him pop up and you guys not be aware of it. So the minute he gets eligible, cleared and he's able to play, I'll let you know. But anything else that's out there about that, is not true."
Donovan would not confirm the holdup has to do with a trip Walker took to Kansas at the expense of an AAU coach in the summer.
The coach maintains for ethical reasons, the coach must stay out of discussions between the NCAA, the school and the student.
So Donovan says he's simply focused on working each day to make Walker a better player, so he will be ready whenever he is declared eligible.
Now 6th ranked Florida plays at Alabama Thursday then hosts Tennessee Saturday.
