Billy Donovan's crew taking care of Dayton 62-52 this past Saturday in the South Region Final, a win that extended the Gators winning streak on the season to 30.
More importantly that victory ending a three game losing streak in the elite 8 phase of the tourney, and sends them to the Final Four for the 5th time in school history and the 4th under Donovan. The Gators will face Connecticut Saturday in the national semifinals.
So this group of seniors, Pat Young, Will Yeguette, Scottie Wilbekin and Casey Prather get their first taste of college basketball's biggest stage, not to mention the younger guys.
Florida head coach Billy Donovan's well aware of the potential pitfalls of that inexperience.
There's obviously an enormous amount of attention placed on the event. And our guys just need to understand that we're there to play basketball. We've been fortunate enough to get an opportunity to play another 40 minutes and sometimes with all that takes place with the Final Four you can really get distracted with those things. It will be really important that we keep ourselves focused mentally, and emotionally, and even physically on things that we need to do to get ourselves prepared to play on Saturday."
