Gainesville, FL---Florida junior quarterback Jeff Driskel says he remains committed to finishing his college career with the Gator football team, despite the fact he has signed a professional baseball contract with the Red Sox.
Thursday in Gainesville Driskel confirming reports he signed with the Red Sox Wednesday, Boston taking Jeff in the 29th round of the draft last month.
In his statement Driskel says "After my college football career is over I want to pursue a professional career in the NFL. If I ever decide I want to play baseball, I want to play with the Boston Red Sox who drafted me in the recent draft."
Driskel set to be Florida's starter again this fall. In two seasons he's thrown for 1,794 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was a standout baseball player in high school and though he says he tinkered with the idea of playing both sports at Florida, he's only played football.
