Driskel Still Sees Himself as Competing for Job

Gainesville, FL--The Gators and their legion of fans are gearing up for another conference game, the first to be played this season in the Swamp.

Florida hosts Kentucky in a midday game Saturday. That yet another chance to watch the maturation of Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel, who was this week's SEC player of the week.

That sounds funny to say, given Driskel barely edged out Jacoby Brissett to win his starting job. Driskel's numbers in Knoxville, 14-20 for 219 yards and two touchdowns.

Overall he's 37-52 for 497 yards and three touchdowns with no picks. It seems as if he's locked that job up quite nicely, but not to Jeff!

"I still say there's competition, we're both out there every day in practice making each other better. I mean the experience of being out there and getting game reps has really helped out a lot. I mean it's happened a little fast, coming out of camp we were even, and then Bowling Green, and Texas A & M happened, took 8 sacks, then I thought I progressed there, and then played well against Tennessee."

Jeff and the Gators host that Kentucky game Saturday just after 11 central time. That game on our CW network. Check your listings for that channel.
