Miramar Beach, FL---It's been well over a month since Sandestin held it's annual Billfish Tournament, but it's obvious the event will continue to effect the local community for some time to come.
The Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic has totaled up it's proceeds and announced it's donated about 20 thousand dollars to charity.
Some 14 thousand 500 dollars generated for the Harvest House of Destin.
That's from the donation of all the gamefish.....tuna, wahoo and dolphin that are caught. Those fish processed and sold at market prices, with the proceeds of those sales then donated to Harvest House, a beneficiary of all 11 years of the ECBC.
Harvest House provides food, clothing and shelter to those in need in the Destin area.
Another 5 thousand dollars donated to the Billfish Foundation.
Tournament Director Shawna Harris says "We feel it's important the ECBC supports these organizations. The event was founded to showcase the great fishing in the Gulf and also to support the local community and conservation groups, Sandestin Foundation for Kids, so we're very pleased to continue those traditions in 2013."
