Tallahassee, FL---It appears as if a strong showing in the spring game by quarterback Jameis Winston is causing another of the Seminoles quarterback to transfer.
FSU announcing Wednesday it's granted redshirt junior quarterback Clint Trickett his release, an indication Winston has already won...or is likely to win the starting qb job for the fall.
Head Coach Jimbo Fisher saying Wednesday "After a long meeting with Clint, he expressed he'd like to explore another playing opportunity, and I've signed off on his wish."
Trickett, the son of FSU assistant coach Rick Trickett, played in 17 games the past two seasons, backing up EJ Manuel, who had his share of injuries.
He played well enough in that role, but again Winston, much heralded out of high school, excelling in the spring game, and seems to have more raw talent.
Trickett's about to graduate but has two years eligibility remaining.
