Tallahassee, FL---Florida State football fans are still waiting, still wondering. Are they about to get one one Saban's assistants to come take over the Seminole defense?
So far the official word is no hire has been made, but the internet is abuzz with reports Jimbo Fisher is going to hire Jeremy Pruitt as FSU's next defensive coordinator.
Pruitt currently the defensive backs coach at Alabama, a position he's held just the last two seasons. That's him in the grey working with Arnold alum Eddie Williams among others earlier this season.
At 37 Pruitt does not have that much collegiate coaching experience, he's spent much more time on the prep level.
His detractors might also point out coaching defensive backs at Alabama is kind of a symbolic post, since Saban himself works so much with the defensive backs.
Still if Saban trusts him with any position, that says a lot. Tide insiders believe had Kirby Smart moved out, Saban would have promoted Pruitt to Alabama's defensive coordinator.
There's been talk FSU is close to hiring recently fired Tennessee defensive coordinator Sal Sunseri as a defensive assistant. Sunseri and Pruitt worked together at Alabama, so that makes senese.
At any rate as of late Tuesday afternoon, Jimbo's still not confirming any hiring.
