Tallahassee, FL--Guiding a unit that improved dramatically this season has earned FSU Defensive Coordinator Mark Stoops a 150 thousand dollar raise along with one year extension.
That means Stoops will get bumped up to 600 grand annually, and is signed through 2014.
Stoops credited with rebuilding FSU's defense into a unit that ranked among the top 10 nationally in almost every major statistical category.
And it's a unit that loses only three seniors among the 22 on its two deep depth chart. Auburn went after Stoops last month, even reportedly offering more money. FSU Trustees chairman Andy Haggard telling Warchant.com quote "The fact he turned down more money from Auburn says a lot about him and the state of the FSU program and the direction it is headed."
