Lynn Haven, FL---Phoenix Racing Team owner James Finch still doesn't know if his team is about to be sold, or if he'll be forced to shut it down after the Brickyard race in Indy on the 28th.
Monday remains the deadline for a possible sale of Phoenix Racing to happen. Finch telling me as of Monday afternoon he's not heard a thumbs-up or a thumbs down from that unnamed prospective buyer.
Finch says that potential buyer was working to get a sponsorship deal in place, but apparently had yet to get that done.
James says he set July 15th as his hard deadline and he's sticking by it, he'll give that buyer until midnight tonight to call. If not he intends to shut the team down after the Brickyard 400 in two weeks.
Finch says he'd prefer to sell the team which will give his 20 team employees some continuity. He says he has helped some of them already line up other job opportunities should the team be shut down.
Finch has run a NASCAR operation for about 20 years now mostly on the Busch/Nationwide Circuit, but also on the Cup level.
