Key West, FL---One week from Monday night we'll know for sure. We'll know if the Phoenix Racing Team will live on with a new owner, or if Lynn Haven based businessman James Finch will be shutting that team down.
I spoke with Finch Monday afternoon, he's in Key West following an eventful weekend at Daytona.
His Nationwide car driven by Kurt Busch with a 4th place finish in the Subway 250 Friday night.
His Cup car driven by AJ Allmendinger caught up in a late crash while racing on the lead lap. So as James puts it, some really good, some really bad at Daytona.
Finch telling me he's still looking towards July 15th as the date to close on the sale of the Phoenix team. He would not confirm or deny the potential sale is to Terry Labonte. Terry's brother Bobby
saying last week they are one of the potential buyers to the team.
Finch says he remains firm, he'll either sell the team by next Monday, or he'll stick with his commitment to race through the Brickyard races at the end of this month, and then shut the team down.
Phoenix Racing is now based in Spartanburg South Carolina.
