Lynn Haven, FL-- When Phoenix Racing Team owner James Finch hired driver Kurt Busch, he knew he was getting a driver with some talent, but also with some serious baggage.
Well now, you could say, the latter's reared it's head again. Busch fined 50 grand by Nascar for instigating an ugly incident in the pits at Darlington over the weekend.
Busch spun his tires and ran through the pit stall of Ryan Newman and the 39 team, close to Newman's crew.
After the race Busch slammed into the back of Newman's car, prompting an angry response from some Newman crew members.
Finch telling me Wednesday Kurt blew his cool and it cost him. He says what Busch did simply wasn't smart.
Finch is more concerned though with Busch driving the car too hard late in that race, blowing a chance at top ten, winding up 21st.
Finch still looking for major sponsorship adding they're getting all kinds of exposure, just not the kind of exposure they need. He says Busch needs to keep leading races, and finishing strong. And says Finch, Kurt needs to keep his cool.
Team Phoenix heading to Charlotte this weekend for the All Star race Saturday night.
