Daytona Beach, FL---Local businessman James Finch may have sold control of his Phoenix Racing this past summer, but he still was involved in the Daytona 500 Sunday.
His team, now known as H. Scott Motorsports, ran two cars in the Great American Race, with Finch himself, putting together the second car driven by Bobby Labonte in the #52.
Labonte was involved in a wreck on Lap 162 that was caused by the race's pole sitter, Austin Dillon, but did finish all 200 laps of the race to finish in 15th.
The team's second car, the #51driven by Justin Allgier, was taken out as well on a crash near the tail end of the race on lap 193.
It was a long day at Daytona for all involved. After the racers started their engines at 12:30 central, they were stopped and parked due to rain. A six hour 22 minute weather delay followed, with the race resuming action in the evening under the lights.
After the weather issues and multiple cautions due to accidents, it was Dale Earnhardt, Jr. who was able to take his second ever checkered flag at NASCAR's biggest race, and begin the 2014 season as the winner of the 2014 Daytona 500.
