TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Michael Snaer scored 16 points, including four straight free throws in the final 20 seconds, and Florida State repelled a late Virginia rally to defeat the Cavaliers 63-56 Saturday.
The win could be costly for the Seminoles (18-7, 8-3 Atlantic Coast Conference), who lost top scorer and rebounder Chris Singleton with an injury to his right foot that could sideline him indefinitely.
Singleton left midway through the first half and didn't return, watching instead from the bench with a protective boot covering the injury. He had 11 points when hurt with Virginia ahead 19-15.
Sammy Zeglinsky scored 19 points and Joe Harris 17 for Virginia, which lost for the fourth time in five games.
Virginia (12-12, 3-7 ACC) fought back from a 16-point deficit in the second half and pulled to within 56-53 with 1:11 left on Harris' short running jumper.
