Marianna, FL---No doubt about it, at this point of the season, the Lady Indians are the class of the Panhandle Conference on the women's side of things.
Coach Greg Franklin's squad is a perfect 7-0 in league play, 23-1 overall, and now looking ahead to a big date Wednesday night at 6-1 Northwest Florida.
I spoke with coach Franklin by phone Tuesday afternoon, and asked him about the key so far, to his team's success.
"The biggest key to our success this year has been our ability to be balanced." coach Franklin told me. "On any given night one through ten on our team, somebody can come up big offensively. And also as well defensively, we have some players that in their position, are very very good defenders. On the low block, out on the wing. So we've been able to take a lot of teams out of what they wanted to do."
And they'll try to continue that Wednesday night, that game at the Arena at Northwest Florida, a 5:30 tipoff.
The men go at 7:30, the Chipola men at 5-2, the Raiders tied with Gulf Coast at 4-3 going into that one. So a big night ahead indeed for the coaches, players and fans of both programs!
