Freeport Feeling Optimistic About 2014

Freeport, FL---Coach Jim Anderson's troops are coming off a disappointing, winless 2014 season.

Certainly the loss of their talented senior quarterback, Gabe Moore, who chose not to play football last season, to concentrate on his world class track talents, had a big effect on that record.

As practice begins, coach Anderson feels there's plenty of reason for optimism heading into 2014!

"It is exciting, it's exciting for the kids and the coaches. It was a tough year, but we're moving on. And the kids have a new attitude and we've really worked hard, and made a lot of changes. So hopefully we'll be more successful, but the number one thing, you can't guarantee wins or losses. All you can do is prepare the best you can and we're working hard to do that."

This time around, Anderson tells us participation is a bit better and of course many of the key players are a year older and more experienced. Still, against the likes of district foes Baker, Jay and Northview, with just three seniors, Anderson expects to be an underdog.

The Bulldogs, a part of 1A District 1, will host Vernon in their preseason classic and start the regular season at Cottondale.
