Undated----Talk about making the most of summer time in Europe. Freeport's Gabe Moore is coming back home knowing he can compete at a world class level in the Octathlon.
Moore in fact performing quite well in that event at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Donetsk, Ukraine.
The senior to be coming in 6th overall, the top U.S. finisher, not that far, in terms of points, behind the bronze medalist.
The octathlon comprised of the 100 and 400 meters, long jump, high jump, 110 meter hurdles, shot put, javelin and the 1,000 meters.
Gabe was second in the USA National Youth Trials in Illinois earlier this month, and that earned him the berth in the overseas competition.
Moore, you may recall, the silver medalist in the 15-16 age group decathlon at the AAU National Junior Olympics in Humble Texas late last year. So this another progression in his track and field career.
