Tallahassee, FL---The Florida State baseball team is rather dominant this season, that is with the exception of when it's playing rival Florida.
The Gators came to Tallahassee Tuesday night and powered by a three run homer by UF second baseman Casey Turgeon, the No. 15 Gators baseball team racked up an 8-0 upset of top-ranked Florida State.
It finishes out a three game season series sweep of Florida State for the Gators, who are now 21-12 on the season. FSU falling to 26-6 with half of those losses to their most hated rival.
Danny Young (4-0) earned the win for the Gators after shutting out the Seminoles on two hits in five innings. He struck out five and walked four.
Casey Smit had two of FSU’s four hits. Heisman winner Jameis Winston was 0-for-2 with a walk and pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief after the game was pretty much decided.
This takes to 1,092 and counting, the number of days it's been since a Florida State football, basketball or baseball team has beaten a Florida team in Tallahassee. That last home victory in any of those sports coming on the diamond back on April 12th, 2011, a 3-1 FSU win.
