Gulf Coast, Chipola Set for Stretch Run

Panama City, FL---To say the least it's going to be an interesting final few games in the Panhandle Conference in the next several days and nights. Gulf Coast and Chipola are tied at 8-8 in league play with four games each left to play.

The Indians play two against Pensacola Friday and Saturday.. The Commodores play two Friday and Saturday against Tallahassee, which at 15-3 has already nailed down the league title. Gulf Coast losing the first three they played against the Eagles.

"There's no question, they absolutely ran away with the race." says Gulf Coast head coach Mike Kandler. "That being said we feel like we can beat them. They have been beaten. You know we didn't play particularly well in that first series with them in a couple of those games, especially offensively. We think if we play our best we can hang in there and have a shot to beat 'em."

No matter what, Gulf Coast and Chipola will wrap the season with two games head to head, in Marianna Monday, at Gulf Coast Wednesday. Gulf Coast winning two of their previous meetings. One thing is for sure, it's going to be an interesting battle for the league's second place state berth.
