Gulf Coast Drops Doubleheader to Tallahassee

Panama City, FL---Conference supremacy is no joke. There's few feelings better than being the team at the top of the standings, holding down first place.

Sunday at Joe Tom King field, Gulf Coast and Tallahasse played for that distinction in a doubleheader, with the Eagles up a game in the ranks before game one.

They also have the bases loaded in the sixth. Tied at one, Brenda Santana hits it to Megan Giffith, the throw home, not in time. TCC takes the lead.

Next up, Brianna Murillo, hits it to third, where the ball is misplayed, Ashley Heath-Smith comes on home. 3-1 Tally.

And it doesn't end, bases still loaded, Shelby Manns, hit by a pitch. Walks in a run. 4-1 now.

The defect proves to be too much for the Gulf Coast's bats. Mariah Rivera holding off the Lady Commodores late as Tallahassee goes on to win 4-1, clinching first place for the moment.

Tallahassee also went on to win the second game of the doubleheader 8-0 over GC.

The Eagles now have a three game lead in the Panhandle over Gulf Coast, Northwest Florida, and Chipola.
