Panama City, FL--It's looking like Gulf Coast could have a new women's head basketball coach by the end of this week.

Gulf Coast A.D. Greg Wolfe tells Newschannel 7 Sports the search to replace Roonie Scovel is now down to just three, with the final of those three interviews due Tuesday.

The list in no particular order is current G.C. assistant Bridgette Goodnight, Malone grad and former GC player Vernette Skeete, and Marie Christian, an assistant at Elon University in North Carolina.

Goodnight spent last season alongside Scovel on the bench and on the practice floor, as a G.C. assistant coach. It was her first year with Gulf Coast. Before that she was an assistant at Pensacola.

Skeete is a 2001 Malone graduate, and was part of the 2003 undefeated, national championship Lady Commodores team.

After Gulf Coast, she graduated from Alcorn State, spent some time as a high school coach back at Malone, then began coaching in the collegiate ranks. Currently she's an assistant coach at the University of Miami.

Skeete and Goodnight have already been interviewed, Christian's interview is Tuesday.

Wolfe says the 7 person committee should have a recommendation for Dr. Kerley by Wednesday with an announcement on a new coach as early as Friday.
