Herndon Takes Big Step in Quest to Get Back in Majors

Binghamton, NY---Call it an impressive showing on the mound for Mosley alum David Herndon, who continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery 13 months ago.

Herndon's now with the Yankees Double-A team in Trenton, after 10 Single-A appearances.

Sunday night he tossed one and two thirds of scoreless relief, while striking out 3 against Binghamton.

So a big night indeed for Herndon, who has to feel good about pitching that well at that level.

Herndon was claimed by the Yankees off waivers in the winter while he was rehabbing, that after the Jays claimed him from Philly, then waived him weeks later.

He spent the previous three seasons with the Phillies, compiling a 3.85 era in 97 games, tossing 117 relief innings.s.

David can earn $750,000 if he lands in the Yankees big-league bullpen this season, so he's hoping for a late season call up.
