Bonifay, FL---Is Holmes star Chris Walker going to be able to take advantage of the scholarship offer he signed with the University of Florida, or could it be juco ball or some other avenue in Walker's immediate basketball future?
Walker's academic eligibility in terms of division one play remains a question mark, now less than two months before he's set to show up and start school in Gainesville.
University of Florida officials tell us Walker still has some work to do in terms of the NCAA clearinghouse, which checks into the academics of those wanting to compete in NCAA athletics.
UF assistant Matt McCall put it this way to USA Today "Chris is still working towards some different things academically and he's still not cleared to enroll.
That decision won't come for a few more weeks." McCall says Walker's committed to working on the process and has done a good job through it all.
On the good news front, point guard recruit Kasey Hill has been cleared and will enroll for the second summer semester. That's big since incumbent point guard Scottie Wilbekin is likely to miss some games early next season after being suspended for unspecified issues.
Both Walker, who led Holmes to the 1A state championship, and Hill were McDonald's All-Americans this past season.
