Hooker Key to Eagles Offensive Success Coach Says

Niceville, FL---The 12-1 Niceville Eagles are getting set for their 7A State Semifinal Friday against 11-2 Osceola.

The Niceville faithful certainly have reason to be confident going into that one. They're averaging 40 points a game this season with that average holding up in the three playoff wins, with the Eagles scoring 62, 38, and 38 over Leon, Lincoln and Fletcher respectively.

Quarterback Ashton Hooker coming back from injury and leading that offense, says his coach John Hicks, the big key there.

"Ashton first of all, he's an experienced quarterback." says coach Hicks. "He makes great decisions. And it's truly a spread offense when he's in there because he can get the ball to a lot of different people and make good decisions doing it. The other thing is he's a pretty good runner, rushed for almost 200 yards against Lincoln. The key to our success offensively is just him being able to run the offense with good decisions and being efficient with it."

The Eagles playing for their second state football championship. The first coming in 1988, Kenny Felder and Kevin Knox leading that group to the championship.

Coach Hicks led the Eagles to the title game in 2009, but they lost to Dwyer. Kickoff in Niceville Friday night 7:30.
