Indians Beat Bay in District Semi's Friday

Panama City, FL---The Choctaw. Indians survive a thriller against Bay in the second semifinal of the 5A-1 district tournament, and advance to Saturday's final with a 47-44 win.

The Indians, who lost both times to Bay in the regular season, made the third game count. They got 15 points from Coby Block.

Bay trailing by 3 in the final seconds, after Choctaw. missed the back end of two free throws, Donald Taylor tried for 3, but that shot hit off the back of the rim, and bounced back out, leaving the Indians with the 3 point victory.

Choctaw. moves on to face Rutherford in the title game Saturday at 7 at Bay's Cobb Gym. The Rams swept their two previous meetings this season. The winner of that game gets to start the playoffs at home, the loser, and district runner up will have to travel to start the postseason.

The attached video shows the following:

-Bay in white, getting the early spurt, nice drive here by Demetrius Rivers and he scores, quick 6 point Tornadoes lead.

-Indians respond by working it in to Coby Block, who turns and hits the jumper.

-Then it's Jaquiel Lawton driving the baseline, he feeds it to Block who scores again, game is tied.

-Bay again on the break, Rivers again, pretty looking layin here.

-Back come the Indians, Tommy Long guarding the paint, he rejects Malik Grant, but Grant recovers, feeds Block who hits the trey.

-Follow that up with another trey on transition. This one close the entire way, it's the Indians though getting the 3 point win 47-44. So it's Choctaw. and Rutherford in Saturday's title game.
