Panama City, FL---The Chipola and Gulf Coast baseball teams are once again tied atop the Panhandle standings at 10-3. That thanks to Chipola's 12-3 win Thursday at Frazier Field, marking the 3rd time the Indians have beaten Gulf Coast in four head to head meetings.
Chipola jumped on G.C. starter West Covington with a run in the top of the first on an rbi single by Josh Merrigan. The Indians added four more in the top of the third, Danny Mars an rbi triple, Ian Rice an rbi double and then Merrigan delivering another run with another rbi triple.
The Indians scored two more in the 4th to lead it 7-0. Gulf Coast came back with 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th, but the Indians closed it out with 5 more in the top of the 9th.
The win taking Chipola's overall record to 31-8, 10-3 in conference play, Gulf Coast State 33-9 now, also 10-3 in league play.
These two back at it head to head Friday at 2 p.m. in Marianna, that will be their final regular season meeting.

-Indians grab the lead in the first, Josh Merrigan singles to right of West Covington, Danny Mars in and it's 1-0 Chipola
-Same score into the top of the third, Indians rally there for four more, Mars triples to right center, Kevin Santa who had singled comes around to make it 2-0.
-Ian Rice then doubles to left center, that scores Mars to make it 3-0.
-Then it's Merrigan delivering Rice with a triple down the line in right, Chipola in control of this one 5-0. They add two more in the 4th and 5 more in the 9th on the way to a 12-3 win. So now both these teams tied atop the conference at 10-3.
