Indians Beat Gulf Coast, Clinch State Berth

Marianna, FL---The Chipola Indians are now making plans for the State Juco Tournament next month in Lakeland. That because
Indians beat Gulf Coast 7-3 in Marianna Monday. That clinching the conference's second place state berth for Chipola.

Michael Mader pitched 8 strong innings for the Indians, he got support with two in the first, and 4 more in the third. Gibson a two run single in that 4 run rally in the third.

Coach Jeff Johnson telling after the game he's really proud of his guys, they struggled much of the season, but he says it's good to see this group come together.

Chipola's won 6 of its last 7 Conference after starting out 4-7. Johnson credits the pitching staff for coming on strong down the stretch, led by Mader. Chipola will finish up at Gulf Coast Wednesday, then get about two weeks to tune up for State and as Johnson puts it, continue to get better so they can play their best baseball down there.
Gulf Coast is now 2-6 coming down the home stretch, dooming their state playoff chances.
